I am typing this blog on July 3, 2024—- just a day before the 4th of July. Here in America, the Fourth of July is when we celebrate our independence. On this site, I usually blog about appointed times/holidays on the Hebrew biblical calendar. But since the United States and Israel share a common bond, I decided I would write about an American holiday. Though it isn’t a sacred observance listed in the Bible, the truth is that the 4th of July is an appointed time for Americans to remember, reflect and celebrate all that God has done for our nation.

Two hundred and forty-eight years ago, a wonderful document called the Declaration of Independence was ratified and this beautiful nation embarked on a journey to establish themselves as a free republic.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, –That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.”

The United States has enjoyed freedom and liberty for many glorious years. But this privilege was not instituted by mere men. Our Creator in heaven bestowed this upon us, along with great wealth and abundance.

Our founding fathers were not perfect, as all leaders have their faults. But most were God-fearing men who understood that a belief in God was necessary for the new nation to function as a free country.

John Adams explained, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

The Constitution of the United States, with its brilliantly crafted Bill of Rights, is what sets us apart from any other nation in the world. Individual rights are protected, even amongst a sea of differing opinions. A system of checks and balances was implemented to keep the government from taking too much control.

In His sovereignty, God created the United States to exist as a beacon of hope. He inspired the writing of both the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, as well as the plans for a unique system of governance. This has allowed our nation to become the most powerful country on earth.

But there is something else that has granted our nation favor from God.

Our relationship with Israel.

In 1948, after being scattered all over the world for thousands of years, Israel became a nation once again. The prophecy of the Jews returning home (which can be found in Ezekiel 37) came to fruition. After the bloodshed of the Holocaust and the annihilation of six million Jews, God’s chosen people were finally coming back to the land of Israel. It was much smaller than their original allotment, but it was a place they could call their own, with the hope of living in peace and security.

The Rebirth of Israel

On May 14, 1948, the modern state of Israel was officially declared a nation in front of the eyes of the world. The Arab countries did not like this and their first reaction was to attack. The United States, however, was the FIRST nation to recognize this tiny strip of land and the Jews right to exist in it. Israel’s war for independence began in the early morning hours of May 14 and lasted over a year. Even though tiny Israel was outnumbered by large Arab nations, she won the war. It was a miraculous victory that could only come from God. From this point forward, this little country, brought back to life by God’s hand, would fight to live and prosper in the small parcel of land they inhabited.

For years, the United States continued to support Israel. After all, like the United States, Israel was a nation built on the providence of Almighty God. Unlike the surrounding Arab countries, the citizens of Israel (which included both Jews and Arabs), lived in a free society where both men and women were protected by fair and just laws.

A Titanic Change

But over time, the relationship between Israel and the United States changed. Perhaps the most noticeable change happened in 2004 when President George W. Bush wrote his “Titanic” letter to then Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. It is dated April 14, 2004—- Titanic hit a massive iceberg on April 14, 1912, exactly 92 years earlier. This letter marked a Titanic turning point in our relationship with Israel.

From the letter:

“The United States remains hopeful and determined to find a way forward toward a resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute. I remain committed to my June 24, 2002 vision of two states living side by side in peace and security as the key to peace, and to the roadmap as the route to get there.

We welcome the disengagement plan you have prepared, under which Israel would withdraw certain military installations and all settlements from Gaza, and withdraw certain military installations and settlements in the West Bank. These steps described in the plan will mark real progress toward realizing my June 24, 2002 vision, and make a real contribution towards peace. We also understand that, in this context, Israel believes it is important to bring new opportunities to the Negev and the Galilee. We are hopeful that steps pursuant to this plan, consistent with my vision, will remind all states and parties of their own obligations under the roadmap.

The United States appreciates the risks such an undertaking represents.”

It goes on to say:

“As you know, the United States supports the establishment of a Palestinian state that is viable, contiguous, sovereign, and independent, so that the Palestinian people can build their own future in accordance with my vision set forth in June 2002 and with the path set forth in the roadmap. The United States will join with others in the international community to foster the development of democratic political institutions and new leadership committed to those institutions, the reconstruction of civic institutions, the growth of a free and prosperous economy, and the building of capable security institutions dedicated to maintaining law and order and dismantling terrorist organizations.”

After reading the above excerpts, it’s plain to see that this letter shows the support of the United States for a future Palestinian state. It also supports and encourages Israel to give away their land– the Gaza strip and parts of the West Bank— to the Palestinians. If you read the whole letter, emphasis is put on dismantling terrorist organizations, and making sure that terrorism doesn’t thrive in the land that would be given to the Palestinians.

HMM….HOW DID THAT GO?

I think you know the answer. We are seeing the rotten fruit of this land deal today! We saw the results on October 7, 2023, when Palestinian terrorists invaded Israel, killing and torturing thousands of people. So much for making sure terrorism doesn’t thrive in the land!

Appeasing Terrorists Never Works

From the moment that the Gaza strip was given to the Palestinians in 2005, there has been non-stop rocket fire and terrorism. No, a Palestinian state wasn’t created at that time, but land that belonged to Israel was given to people who won’t even recognize Israel as a nation! Hate against Jews has flourished in the Gaza Strip and West Bank and it’s only getting worse. The Palestinian leaders have not created a thriving economy, which Bush’s letter specifies. Instead, terrorist groups like Hamas have taken every dime and used it to build terror tunnels and pay terrorists.

Hurricane Katrina’s Wrath

Interestingly enough, the United States was hit by Hurricane Katrina not long after Israel gave up her God-given land to terrorists.

Hurricane Katrina ended up being the most economically devastating hurricane (natural disaster) in U.S. history at that time. Not only that, the 2005 hurricane season was the most active– it included 3 of the 6 most intense hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic.

But there was something else. The spot that Hurricane Katrina hit with brutal force is well-known to anyone who watched coverage of the disaster. 

It was New Orleans, Louisiana. Here the storm breached 53 levees. This allowed the full force of the Mississippi to be unleashed. Over 700 people were killed and virtually everything was flooded and destroyed. 

And why is this spot significant? 

The very place that Hurricane Katrina unleashed the full force of her wrath is the SITE OF THE LOUISIANA PURCHASE.

If you don’t remember your U.S. history, it’s time to brush up because it’s pivotal that you understand this when it comes to the consequences for dividing Israel’s land.

The Louisiana Purchase is perhaps one of the most important transactions made in U.S. history. This historical land deal doubled the size of the United States overnight. The transaction was made by Thomas Jefferson, who purchased the land from Napoleon. At the time, France owned quite a bit of land in what we now call the United States. 

 But here’s the key piece of info to understand– 

Jefferson initially only tried to purchase the port of New Orleans and West Florida for ten million dollars. But, in a “twist of fate,” Napoleon offered Jefferson much, much, more. France’s leader offered to sell the United States not just New Orleans, but also 828,000 square miles of land west of the Mississippi River for the cheap price of 15 million. This meant the U.S. would acquire what equaled 15 current U.S. states and two Canadian provinces! (at this time the entire area was called the Louisiana Territory after France’s King Louis XIV). 

Of course, Jefferson jumped at the chance to gain all of this land for the very cheap price of four cents an acre. Basically, the states we know today as Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, large sections of North and South Dakota, northeastern sections of New Mexico, a northern section of Texas, as well as Minnesota (west of the Mississippi River) were eventually carved out of this huge land allotment that the U.S. purchased from France.  Also included were Montana, Wyoming and Colorado (east of the Continental Divide) and Louisiana (west of the Mississippi River), which of course, included New Orleans.

The fact that Jefferson was offered this much land at a very cheap price was not a “twist of fate” or luck. It was a blessing from God. Once the United States gained all that land, they locked in their super power status. It put the U.S. on the map as a powerful country, and increased its resources substantially. 

LET’S REVIEW………WHERE DID HURRICANE KATRINA HIT AFTER THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT PUSHED ISRAEL TO GIVE AWAY HER GOD-GIVEN LAND?

IN THE VERY PLACE THAT JEFFERSON OFFERED TO PURCHASE DURING THE MOST IMPORTANT FINANCIAL TRANSACTION IN U.S. HISTORY– NEW ORLEANS

In fact, Louisiana ended up being the first state officially carved out of this new land that would change the status of the U.S. forever.

And that’s not all the connections. Once Jefferson secured the land, he needed to send explorers to that untamed area so they could map the land and also document the resources, flora and fauna. He sent two brave explorers named Lewis and Clark. 

GUESS WHAT DATE LEWIS AND CLARK SET OUT TO EXPLORE THIS UNCHARTERED LAND OF THE LOUISIANA PURCHASE? 

MAY 14, 1804–  this is the date they launched their boats into the Missouri River at its mouth, 18 miles from St. Louis. 

WHY IS THe MAY 14 DATE SIGNIFICANT?

On MAY 14, 1948, Israel officially became a nation again after being scattered for thousands of years. This is the date that Israel became the legal owner of their land once again (according to human contracts of course- God declares it was always their land).

IF YOU MESS WITH GOD’S LAND, THERE WILL BE CONSEQUENCES

So, you see, when the United States’ leaders encouraged and helped Israel give away their biblical land, then their own land was hit by a devastating hurricane in the exact place that Thomas Jefferson sought to purchase in 1803. This spot is specifically tied to the economic and political prosperity of the United States because without the Louisiana Purchase, America would be a shadow of what it is today.  

Lewis and Clark went to explore the land that God blessed our nation with on the very date that Israel was blessed with their land– MAY 14.

Once the U.S. helped broker a deal for a two-state solution and supported the disengagement of Israel’s land, then the land our nation was blessed with was “disengaged” by a massive hurricane that would devastate not just New Orleans, but several states. We messed with Israel’s land and thus, our land was “messed with.” 

The April 30th Connection

The Louisiana Purchase took place on April 30, 1803. This is the same date that our first President, George Washington, took the oath of office in New York City in 1789. It’s also the date the idea to build the Titanic was conceived over dinner in 1907. As a nation, if we turn away from God’s laws and support the division of the Holy Land, we run the grave risk of becoming like the Titanic.

George Washington Supported the Jews

George Washington took the oath of office in New York City on April 30, 1789. He dedicated our nation to God on that day. Another interesting fact about Washington is that he supported the Jewish people. There’s a famous letter written by him to the oldest synagogue in the United States (the Touro Synagogue in Newport, Rhode Island).

In the letter Washington promised the synagogue more than mere religious tolerance, explaining that “It is now no more that toleration is spoken of as if it were the indulgence of one class of people that another enjoyed the exercise of their inherent natural rights.” It continued with the promise that “the Government of the United States, which gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance, requires only that they who live under its protection should demean themselves as good citizens in giving it on all occasions their effectual support.”

Washington was a firm believer in religious freedom and he aimed to secure this for the Jews. Below is a picture of Mt. Vernon, Washington’s home in Virginia.

Presidents like George W. Bush (and his father George H.W. Bush), Barak Obama, and Joe Biden do not have the same respect that our founding fathers had for the Jewish people. Instead, these men build TOWERS. They want to BUILD BACK BETTER. The tower they are building doesn’t include the independent nation of Israel.

It’s eerie to know that on April 30, 2012, exactly 223 years after Washington took the oath of office on April 30, 1789 in New York City, a gigantic tower rose from the ashes in New York City, not far from where Washington stood all those years ago.

One World Trade Center officially became New York’s tallest tower on April 30, 2012.  Though the building wasn’t officially completed, on that specific date, it surpassed the heights of all the buildings in NYC. Of course, One World Trade Center replaced the Twin Towers that fell on 9-11. It was President Obama who signed the last beam that would go into the tower on June 14, 2012. The message he wrote on the beam didn’t convey a spirit of humility, but rather pride. It boasted: “We remember, We rebuild, We come back stronger!” Obama wasn’t interested in submitting himself to God, or to the Almighty’s grand plan for the United States and Israel.  Obama was definitely not a friend of Israel and throughout his tenure as president, he went out of his way to turn his back on the Jewish nation.

THE GROUND ZERO CROSS CONNECTION

After the 9-11 disaster, a 20-foot cross was found in the rubble of where Building 6 used to stand in the World Trade Center complex. Before 9-11, there were 7 total buildings.

Hold on to those numbers: 6 and 7.

The 20-foot ground zero cross fell from the 67th floor of the World Trade Center’s North Tower (note the 6 and 7 in 67).

Hopefully, you have seen the 6 and 7 in both of the above facts.

67 has some interesting significance because it was June 7, 1967 that Israel reclaimed East Jerusalem in the Six Days War. It was on this date that the entire city was unified and in the hands of the Jewish people.  As a date, June 7 is written 6–7 —-so there is the 6 and 7 again.

Maybe it’s a coincidence that the Ground Zero Cross fell from the 67th floor and into Building 6 of 7 total structures.

Personally, I see the connection of the 6 and 7 as a reminder that we are a nation formed by God and blessed by Jesus Christ. Additionally, we have a strong bond with Israel. Of course, Jesus is a Jew and we know that one day he will restore the Jewish people and the entire earth.

Most of the Jews living in Israel do not accept Jesus as their Messiah. But remember the Bible states that the Jewish people would be brought back to their land first and then sometime in the future, the spirit would arrive. This would be after much tribulation and even after being deceived for a time by the Antichrist. But through all this, God will restore his covenant people and they will finally receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Jesus will return to JERUSALEM (which was unified in 1967) and the Jewish people will finally recognize him as their King.

As a nation we must support the plan that God has for the Jewish people by recognizing their right to the land they are living in. Also, we must advocate for their protection from all forms of antisemitism and violence. We don’t have to agree with every move of the Israeli government, but we should recognize the fact that God brought the Jewish people back into their land to restore and save them through Jesus. The Ground Zero cross fell from a TOWER and into a burning pit of fire and rubble. If we forgo our connection with Jesus as a nation, or if we abandon Israel, we are destined to fall like the towers on 9-11.

Here’s one more interesting connection to the 6 and 7.

The American flag has 13 stripes, 6 of which are white, and 7 that are red.

Every time the American flag waves, it’s a visual reminder of the freedom and prosperity we have enjoyed since the founding of our nation. But we wouldn’t have either of those privileges without God. The blood of Jesus washes our sins away (red stripes on the flag), making us as white as snow (white stripes). By his wounds (stripes), our nation is healed.

God has blessed us not just because we were founded as a Christian nation. Our relationship to Israel is another reason we have received God’s favor.  

Nowadays, it is very obvious that the Biden Administration, and sadly many wayward Americans, would rather support the terrorists of Gaza than God’s covenant people, the Jews. By the way, this is an excellent broadcast that explains the biblical right that the Jews have to the land, as well as the legal right. It also dissolves many lies propagated by uneducated protesters who believe that the Palestinians are justified in their murderous actions.

If the United States continues to turn its back on Israel, there will be heavy consequences….

July 4, 2024, we celebrated our 248th Independence Day.

How many more 4th of July celebrations will our future hold?

How long will America remain the home of the free?

I do not know what the future holds, but I can only pray that our nation will support the nation of Israel and protect the Jewish people from the unprecedented antisemitism and violence unleashed in these last days. It’s time to read books like THE HIDING PLACE by Corrie ten Boom. If the day comes that we need to protect a Jewish person, we must rise to the occasion.

Keep praying for our nation and for Israel. In the end, our INDEPENDENCE comes from DEPENDENCE on Jesus!
